HTC First – The New Home for Android!

HTC First Mobile Phone

Social networking giant Facebook recently introduced their ‘Facebook Home’ for Android. So, instead of making a Facebook phone, at the moment they’ve decided to simply create an overlay UI running on Android’s core. Yes, so just like how HTC creates Sense UI or Samsung has TouchWIZ atop Android, the same way Facebook Home is designed to put the world’s popular social network front-and-center on your smartphone. It introduces a completely re-imagined interface that puts photos from your news feed on to the lock-screen. Then there’s Chatheads — a set of circular icons of your friends that always stay on the screen, so you can tap on them and start chatting without moving away from any other app you may have open.

Although Facebook Home is available for multiple popular handsets like the Galaxy SIII and SIV, they’ve also partnered with HTC to release a phone that comes with the Facebook Home experience built-in. The HTC First is a compact sized handset with a 4.3-inch display, but thanks to the 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, will deliver crisp output. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and 1GB RAM. There’s 16GB of internal memory and no microSD card slot for expansion. It supports high-speed LTE and comes with a reasonable 5 mega-pixel autofocus camera that can record 1080p HD videos. There’s also a high-res 1.6MP wide-angle front-facing camera for video calls. A non-removable 2000 mAh battery powers the HTC First.

Although it comes with Facebook Home pre-installed, it is running a stock version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. And since Facebook Home can be easily turned off, you can use this phone void of Facebook’s overlay too.
